ISSUES RELEASED

One may have a troubled past, the future lies ahead. As Freeman travels journeys, old issues block his path. Who will find the missing doctor? Who will discover themselves? The questions are clear yet the answers are vague. The road of inter-dimensional travel is wrought with danger, the valleys steep and treacherous. Will you find the answers? Will you resolve your Issues?

Update (2003-11-01)
Issues Beta Started

Today the Issues team is proud to announce its jewel to the public! But what is Issues all about?

Issues started out the sequel to “Project Quantum Leap” but quickly evolved into Issues. Various people from the Half-Life community have worked on this project, both regulars and newcomers. Together we’ve created one incoherent map-pack, loosely bound together by a plot.

Today Beta testing has begun and soon the thing we’ve put so much effort in will be released to the public. Before this is going to happen however, we need a little help. We need beta testers! Do you have what it takes to be a beta tester for us? Do you have the wit to resolve some beta-issues?

It's different and it’s not your average Half-Life mod: will you be able to resolve all the Issues? Wait, play, think, shoot, jump, enjoy, shoot and resolve…

Issues

We've got Issues.

Welcome to ISSUES!

The public announcements for ISSUES have now been released. "Help Wanted" posts have been made on several prominent forums, we're listed on the ModDatabase, and we even got a "news" post on the Spirit of Half-Life site itself.

The core team has been hard at work making the story-related elements of ISSUES, and hopefully I'll be able to post some concrete progress reports before much longer. In the meantime let me welcome any members of the mapping community that are thinking of joining us.

ISSUES is intended to be a showcase of Spirit of Half-Life maps made by many individual mappers. There will be a story (http://issues.command-center.org/about.html#story) to bind everything together - sort of - and if you want to produce a story related map you're certainly welcome to. Just let us know! But most of the maps will be totally up to you, the mapper.

If you're interested in contributing a map to ISSUES, first have a look at the submission guidelines [http://issues.command- center.org/about.html#submit] and the Rules [http://issues.command- center.org/about.html#rules].

Drop by the ISSUES forum [http://issues.command- center.org/forums/] and let us know what you think. If you have questions or need help with playtesting - we'll be glad to give you a hand.

UPDATE: The map submission deadline has been extended to September 1st.

First came the resounding success that was Project Quantum Leap. Then there was PQL2: The Next Project, but it was carried off by raiders from Xen and never seen again. Some of us escaped though, and now we bring you ISSUES.

Like its predecessors, the idea behind Issues is to collect maps created by many different individuals into a single incoherent map pack. Unlike the PQL, however, we have decided to loosely bind these maps up in a story - of which only some of the maps will be a part, so it will still be pretty incoherent.

Our core team will be making the story related elements, but we need you, the members of the mapping community, to help us by contributing your maps to Issues.

We are looking for single-player maps of any theme, any setting, any content (with a few common sense restrictions). The main requirement is that the map must run under Spirit of Half-Life version 1.0 - although you don't necessarily need to make use of Spirit's features. Complete submission instructions and rules are viewable on the submit part of the page.

Deadline for map submissions is July 1, 2003, with a release date planned for sometime in the Fall.

If you're new to mapping, or just don't have time to create a full blown map pack of your own, this is a terrific opportunity to get a sample of your work published.
